Carl E. Colbert is a Partner with KSDT and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1981. He began his career with the international accounting firm Peat Marwick Mitchell, where he developed broad skills in accounting and taxation for individuals, corporations, and partnerships, while building specialized expertise in estate and succession planning.

In 1983, Carl joined Mallah, Furman and Company, a major South Florida accounting firm, where he became a Principal and chaired the Estate, Trust, and Succession Planning practice group. He was also responsible for overseeing state income and sales tax matters, tax research, tax planning, compliance preparation and review, and the design and implementation of accounting procedures and controls.

In 1993, Carl co-founded the firm that would later become Colbert Boué & Associates, LLP. Highly regarded as an expert in estates and trusts taxation, he continues to serve individual and corporate clients in the areas of accounting, taxation, IRS representation, and tax consulting. Known for building long-standing client relationships, Carl takes a holistic approach that aligns tax and estate planning with each client’s overall financial goals.

A lifelong South Florida resident, Carl has been an active leader in the community. He has served as Chairman of the Executive Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center Foundation, President of the South Dade Estate Planning Council, and a member of the Greater Miami Estate Planning Council and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has also given back through youth leadership, including coaching soccer and serving with Conquest Catholic Youth Ministry.
